About Us
The Bee is a family business located in Lincoln, Illinois. By day Melanie is a mental health counselor and enjoys bringing mental health items to the store. David is a school principal and our four children Clayton, Davis, Liam and Savannah help in various aspects of the store. Alexis is part of our family too and she runs our shop during the week and is dating our son, Davis.
Queen Bee
The 1972 VW microbus was an idea as I began to reopen the counseling business to in person appointments I thought I could continue to deliver plants and go to places outside of our area. We obtained the bus in Indiana on a cold winter day from a family who had purchased the van from a collector of VW's that was featured on American Pickers. You can see her in a barn on the show with more VW memorabilia. She was restored and we happily take her to the shop and events. She brings so much joy to others, as people wave the peace sign and we see the beaming smiles as she goes by.
